Frances Barber is a British actress born in Wolverhampton, England on November 13, 1957. She began her career in the 1980s and has since worked extensively in television, film, and theatre. Barber is best known for her roles in the BBC series Silk, as well as the films Prick Up Your Ears and Sammy and Rosie Get Laid. She has also appeared in various stage productions in the West End and on Broadway, including productions of Hamlet, Macbeth, and Julius Caesar. Barber has been nominated for several awards throughout her career, including a Laurence Olivier Award for her role in the West End production of Uncle Vanya. She is also a patron of the charity Action for ME, which provides support to those with the condition myalgic encephalopathy.
